  • I think my biggest complaint is the fact that a lot of things won’t rez until you right right click them (sometimes that doesn’t even work), and MESH items are either not loading at all or popping up script error triangles. I thought it might be a creator error, or viewer settings, but upon going on… the dreaded LL viewer, they worked fine. Same goes for setting everything to what it had been on the previous Firestorm. Hoping there’s a fix for this, or an update soon, cause I really don’t want to be stuck on the LL viewr. Firestorm is too epic for that.

Will go to the support page and look around, just wanted to make a note.

  • Ann, the issue with things not appearing to rez is a known server side bug, LL is aware of the issue. You can refresh everything all at once by toggling in and out of wireframe mode by pressing Ctrl-Shift-R (you need to have the Develop menu enabled though for this to work, Ctrl-Alt-Q to enable the Develop menu), this will basically reapply all of the textures to the items within your draw distance thus making the previously ‘invisible’ items visible again.

  • From what I understand that’s a Linden Lab issue. I’ve seen it happen on Phoenix and previous versions of Singularity, though the latest Singularity doesn’t experience this as much.

  • There seems to be a major problem with the Mac version that I didn’t have until I upgraded to the latest release with server side baking support. The problem doesn’t manifest immediately after launch, but seems to happen every time. The Firestorm process seems to run as normal, but then I get a bunch (like 3) of the SLPlugin processes and often those go berserk and seem to get orphaned from the client, since they don’t get cleaned up when I exit. But the worst part is that if I run the top command, the SLPlugin processes eat up like 350% of (3.5 out of 4 cores) on my computer. Really terrible. Running the latest version of OS X 10.8.3 on a mid-2010 MacBook Pro.

In it the sculpties did not collapse even at 1,024 meters.
    2) Why Firestorm does not in Edit object (edit-more- inspect) information about who has uploaded a texture and sculptmap?

  • As per on Inara blog, at least a new update on viewer side will be released before SSB will be put to test!
So all SSB viewers will have at least one more update!
It was the widespread use of SSB viewers that allow to found and hopefull get a fix for the SSB code and to make that when finally releaed it will be fully functional!
Ditto, i reverted to a pre SSB version of the viewer i use until SSB is really released into main grid and i’ll have to use a SSB viewer, by then hopefulll, All functional!

  • I’m just having an issue with a specific texture not loading since yesterday. I was loading fine and since then I just get a grey square. It happens in latest Firestorm and LL viewer. Other avis also see a grey cube. The texture is c3eea2d3-60ce-3606-e3b2-74e5b5ec027c. It is not in my inventory. I applied it to the prim with a script by UUID reference. The strange thing is that the same texture with same UUID does display in a prim at the store I found it and I can apply and display with no issues other textures I don’t have in my inventory using the same method.
Have tried clearing the texture cache, disabling HHTP textures, and the other debug settings recommended without success. I hope it’s just a temporary bug so I will way before re-uploading the texture myself.

  • I love the new viewer but by god what is with all the crashing. I never crashed so much in SL till now and its takes me another hour to get back on the grid. I am really disappointed in that. Yes i know new viewers have issues but even with other changes I have never had this many issues and the LAG omg is still aweful when i run my pc on medium and I have the capabilities to run on Ultra unlike some people. Please work out the kinks I pay to much for this to have so many issues.

  • Yesterday was my 6th year anniversary with SL and today I try to login and it is not allowing me to accept and login. I appreciate change I really do. But when you treat someone that has supported SL/Firestorm and have had people switch and use Firestorm you don’t expect to be treated like this. Because of this I have chosen to leave SL and FIrestorm. It is really sad since I have put a lot of money and time into this. Thanks a lot Firestorm developers for such a sweet kiss off.

  • Am I right in thinking the Linden Viewer don’t do this SSB so I’m surprised the TPV are rushing it first.
When will Linden be issuing the SSB viewer seems the most asked question these days.

    June Oh

    May 8, 2013

  • LL has SSB support in their Development Viewer and eventually it’ll be in the regular LL viewer. The TPVs are adding the code for SSB so they have time to enhance stability and improve their viewers. It is VERY important that there be many different viewers with SSB support when LL turns on SSB in SL so everyone will have a viewer they are comfortable using because at that point old versions of viewers will not work properly. No one needs more grey in their SLife.

  • Here’s an issue to check if you’re having weird performance issues. This version is subject to the bug where a single CPU core can get pegged at 100% all the time. Following the original fix as far as the Nvidia card settings fixed it (it fixed it for Singularity as well which also exhibited the issue.)

Here’s a link to the Wiki to fix it if you’re having the issue:

  • I have experienced many problems with this latest upgrade (which is unusual) but the worst is inventory loss. You should be aware that SL Live Chat gives very odd and seemingly capricious solutions to this issue. For example, two days ago I was advised to log out of SL for 24 hours, then log into Aditi and see if the issue resolved. A few months ago I was advised that they might be able to solve the problem, but that I would lose all of my outfit links. I agreed to try it, I lost all of my outfit links, but regained none of the lost textures. Most times LL support won’t even talk to me if I’m using a TPV, and I really don’t feel like downloading and installing their viewer to troubleshoot, which honestly is what I pay LL for. I feel like we are all at the point of installing more viewers, then lighting incense, waving it around our heads and running around the room backwards to see if the problem resolves. Sl has more frustration and less practical use than it did years ago.

    May 9, 2013

  • That above comment is a bit confused, let me try to restate my case.

Whatever the problem, when you use a TPV, LL support will not help you until you install their viewer and replicate the problem. Then they send you to jump through many, many hoops – clear inventory, cache, install latest viewer, install latest graphics card drivers, log out of SL for 24 hours, log onto other grids, let them wipe out your outfit links, let them do other mysterious things…none of which EVER work to recover textures or resolve the issues.

All of us who are users are supposed to do so much troubleshooting! Every time a new update comes out we have to spend hours troubleshooting, and contacting support for various viewers, all of whom refuse to help and point the finger and the other guy. Go back and look at my support history for Firestorm, every time I am told that it is a LL problem. And when I file a ticket with LL, I am told that they can’t help me because I use a TPV.

So when is all of this going to be ready for the regular user? I recently pitched a class to my local University, and was told “we hear SL is dead.” I had to rebuttal to that.

When will SL be out of Beta?

    Dijodi Dubratt

    May 9, 2013

  • Correction to the above “I had NO rebuttal to that.” What could I possibly say?

    Dijodi Dubratt

    May 9, 2013

  • That SL is not dead and a lot of people are still there. LL are working hard to improve the user experience, but such radical changes are bringing several troubles too, because the system is complex and messing in a place bring troubles elsewhere. FS team, who is doing only a little part of the job, took so long to bring out this new release to make sure it has no major bugs, and it turned out to be the most bugged release ever, since FS betas… and I’m very sorry for them, really, because I know that it took a lot of effort and for free. They released it with a triumphant post and now… I’m sure that they are very disappointed as well. I thank them anyway, it is the minimum that I could say. Also many issues aren’t their fault.
LL are doing even more work, devs are paid and they are doing messes anyway. SL is very complex and in constant evolution (aka to find new ways to mess it even more LOL). Support would be difficult even with a single viewer. What I could blame more is the management, maybe.
And there are issues that are here forever.
And griefers who are never banned.
    And scam is everywhere.
And there is a constant lack of information to the end user, about what is happening, unless you check 3rd party blogs.
    And so on…

So SL is still alive, even if SL is the usual mess that scares and discourages new users and brings dissatisfaction to who is here for longer (like if drama wasn’t enough). I think it is still here because the whole idea behind SL is still great, people did invest so much here already, some people have their friends and so on… so a good amount of people is still here anyway, for now, but this can continue forever. SL can’t afford to keep to bring frustration and to decline so much that eventually it will collapse.
    Oh, well, nothing lasts forever.

But I know it is a moment in SL where so many things are worked on, in order to bring improvements. So I’m patient and I wait. Lets see.
